Our local MP, Anna Soubry will be debating today in the House of Commons the threat to the area’s greenbelt from plans to build more houses in Broxtowe, and the plans for opencast mining by UK Coal between Ilkeston, Cossall and Trowel.
A quote from Anna (can I call her that?) said “These proposals represent a serious and continuing threat to what little greenbelt land we have left in Broxtowe. This flies in the face of Government policy, which is to protect our greenbelt from development and we need clarity before the consultation ends on July 23rd.” – I guess we can deduce from this quote which side of the argument Anna is on!
